If Biden...
If the previous president had said and done anything like Trump, the coverage would be nonstop
Just after midnight, the President of the United States posted this on Truth Social:
Lots to unpack here.
Trump is talking about the January 6 attack on the Capitol. But he was the president then — not Biden. Biden hadn’t taken office yet. Trump had been in charge for four years.
The claim that the FBI “placed 274 agents into the crowd” is a popular conspiracy theory on the Trump right. It isn’t true.
So we’re left with something else: a man clearly struggling with time, memory, and basic reality.
And it’s not the first time.
If Joe Biden had posted something like this — confusing who was president during a historic event — Fox News would already be in full meltdown mode. There’d be nonstop panels on his “decline,” his “dementia,” and calls for the 25th Amendment.
If Biden had claimed cities were burning when they weren’t... or sent troops into cities based on proven falsehoods... or bragged about stopping wars between countries that were never at war... or forgotten the name of his own book... or said drug prices were down “a thousand percent” (which would mean drug companies were paying you to take pills)... or misremembered his uncle’s life story so completely that the timelines didn’t even overlap... or swayed to music on stage for 40 minutes... or said water stops magnets from working... or insisted he won an election he lost... or that he lost an election that he won… or that he ran against someone he never ran against…
If Biden had done any of that, every network — not just Fox — would be on it around the clock.
That’s not speculation. We saw how the press treated Biden’s gaffes. Every small slip became “evidence” of cognitive decline.
Some media outlets are starting to cover Trump’s lapses now. But if Biden had said or done half these things, it wouldn’t have taken years of repetition for the press to notice. It would’ve been breaking news before breakfast. And it would have been much louder.
