In New York, Audacy clearly picked the wrong all-news station to kill. WCBS should have been simulcast on FM. Instead, we get WINS, which offers little to anyone beyond those who want to hear about the latest shooting or stabbing in one of NYCâs Outer Boroughs. Frankly, I can learn more about the world I live in and understand more about the reasons why things are happening on Bloombergâs WBBR.
Now, Audacy is simulcasting most of its stations on SiriusXM. Two companies, desperately throwing as much crap on the wall as they can in an effort to save themselves. Sadly, with Audacy at the helm, the future of all-news radio is not bright. Although iHeart and Cumulus are no better. The legacy broadcast companies saw all three coming.
