Physics has been our enemy over the last few weeks. Physics is very upset with my wife and me. And all weāve tried to do is fit the belongings from a four-bedroom, multi-level condo into a two-bedroom, one-den apartment.
So, some boxes went off to storage for later. And, of course, weāre discovering all the little things we need that didnāt get unpacked.
But thatās okay. Itās only temporary.
Well, everything is temporary when you get right down to it. No situation lasts forever. But this impermanence is planned. Ronnie and I will rent for a few months, and once weāve got Atlanta and its environs in our bloodstream, weāll find a place to buy.
Oh, and then the fun of moving again. But things should be easier then.
Speaking of physics, thereās some psychology Iāve been thinking about. Specifically, the psychology of the moving guys who would look at something with an attached power cable and decide, āWell, I should separate these into different boxes!ā
I prefer owning rather than renting, but renting has some significant joys. The first is that if something isnāt working, itās no longer on me to fix it.
āHey, landlord, the light in this here bedroom is whispering things to me. Dark things. Please come replace. Thank you.ā
I wonder why the maintenance people step in so hesitantly when Iām in the apartment. Go figure.
But hey, the big OLED is hooked up. I havenāt gotten the sound system together yet. Somewhere, thereās a missing Blu-ray player. Probably in storage now. Or on a nice farm upstate.
My guitars and amp are unpacked. Theyāre ready to help me get back at the upstairs neighbor the next time they stomp around.
Both our offices are more or less set up. Cogitating and working at home are things that can be done now.
And the people at WSB continue to be awesome, without fail.
